?Employees who have been committed to their employers, working hard, taking on more and getting by with less are now ready to resume their career plans,? says HR agency Randstat in their latest quarterly Employee Engagement Index (pdf download), which goes on to say, ?almost 40 percent of employees plan to seek out a new position in the next six months. But with slower than expected job creation and recovery, more than half (58 percent) do not believe they would be able to find a new job today that they would like to accept.? So 40% would like a new and better job, but a majority of that group thinks they won?t find one. Okay?

By ?resume their careers? Randstat apparently means ?look for a news job.? Nothing wrong with that. If every skilled IT person is happy in his or her current employment, there are no job openings and no applicants to fill those nonexistent job openings, which means companies like Randstat would have to close their doors.

?While more than a quarter of employees are ready and waiting for greener pastures, a majority are committed and optimistic about their company?s future and their career prospects,? says Randstat. ?Most employees (61%) expect to grow their their career with their current employer. Just over a third of employees plan to seek a new position within their current company or organization, indicating employees? loyal intentions will grow with their current companies if opportunities for advancement exist.?

These aren?t the kind of things we necessarily think about when we?re interviewing for a new job, but that tend to come up after a year or two, possibly after an even longer period.

You can even move the number pad keyboard to the left of the QWERTY keyboard and separate it by a foot of distance with the included extra-long cable. If that's not enough, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 also comes with two sets of direction keys (one WASD and one arrow) that have rubber bumpers around them to make them more noticeable under the fingers, and a key removal tool for installing them.

It took me a few minutes to get the keyboard completely set up, and after that I had to grasp the fact that it needed a few seconds to boot up. The keyboard is completely nonfunctional without the touch screen plugged in to control the keyboard parts, and since it uses a big power brick to plug in, it can easily eat more than one socket on a power strip.

Once you plug all the parts together, screw them in using the included hex driver, and plug the touch screen into your computer's USB port and a wall outlet for power, you can get to the other main feature of the keyboard: the touch screen. You need to install both the drivers and control panel for the keyboard on your computer to take full advantage of it, but once you do the attractive TFT touch screen can serve several different purposes. It can launch programs, perform macros, adjust the keyboard backlighting (a full RGP selection with several presets and three color sliders), control music, show the time, set alarms, take notes, and even disable the Windows key. It also has full TeamSpeak controls for talking to your teammates during multiplayer games.

Customizable But Not Mechanical
The touch screen has eight physical buttons spread around the screen, including Volume Up/Down, Mute, Home (for the touch screen menu), and three preset buttons that let you switch modes on the keyboard, adjusting things like the backlighting. You can set the top mode to glow your favorite color and turn off the Windows key for your gaming, and set the middle mode to not glow at all and leave the key enabled for when you do other things. The mode is shown as a color, red (top), blue (middle), or purple (bottom) on the large MadCatz logo emblem to the left of the touch screen and above the Home key.

For features and functions, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 is the most impressive keyboard I've used. However, as a $300 gaming keyboard, it commits one crime that could be considered a dealbreaker for hardcore gamers and enthusiasts. It uses a membrane design instead of individual mechanical (preferably Cherry MX) keyswitches like the Das Keyboard. It means the keyboard is much quieter than a mechanical keyboard, but it also means it's less reliable and long-lasting. Mechanical keyboards tend to be virtually indestructible and immortal, while membrane keyboards are much more prone to failure after years of use. To be fair, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 feels very good for a membrane keyboard, and the keys seem significantly sturdier and more responsive than your average membrane keyboard, and MadCatz's documentation claims the mechanism they use have extremely close response levels to the "soft" Cherry MX Brown mechanical keyswitch. Still, purists might find the lack of mechanical keyswitches unforgivable.

Despite the membrane keyboard, the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 plays extremely well. I loaded up Borderlands 2, and I found the customization options very intuitive and the keys responsive. The keyboard was very responsive and the different buttons were extremely easy to set.

Obama: Romney 'sure can afford to pay a little more' in taxes

Obama arrives in Milwaukee (Carolyn Kaster/AP)MILWAUKEE?President Barack Obama visited Wisconsin for the first time in seven months Saturday, moving to head off a possible last-minute surge of support for his opponent Mitt Romney in this pivotal swing state.

Appearing before several thousand rain-soaked but cheering supporters, Obama argued Romney's policies wouldn't make things better for the middle class. And he took a shot at his GOP rival's tax policies?arguing a day after the GOP candidate released his tax returns that he and other upper income Americans can afford to pay more.

"I can afford to pay a little bit more," Obama said. "And Mitt Romney sure can afford to pay a little more."

It was Obama's first visit to this pivotal swing state since February and came as polls show the race tightening in the state. While Obama won the state by 14 points in 2008, a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll released last week found Obama with just 7-point lead over Romney, who saw a boost in support when he picked popular native son, Rep. Paul Ryan, to be his running mate.

In recent weeks, the Romney campaign has started advertising in the state?running ads attacking Obama's record on trade and China as a move to make in-roads in state where the manufacturing industry has been hard hit by the struggling economy. Ahead of the president's visit, the Romney campaign talked up what it described as Obama's "Wisconsin problem"?citing as proof Obama's decision to visit a state that should be comfortably Democrat.

But Obama advisers immediately downplayed the suggestion the campaign is worried about Wisconsin.

""We're going to run here, like in any battleground states, like we're five points behind until Election Day," Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters.

But Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, who made the 90-minute drive from Chicago to see his boss, acknowledged that Romney is "stronger" than John McCain was in the state in 2008, in part because of Republican organizing efforts around the recall election of GOP Gov. Scott Walker.

"Because of the recall election, they test drove their car whereas in other states they haven't. It would make sense they are strong here, as are we," Messina said. "They are stronger than McCain was in '08, no question, on the ground."

But the Obama campaign, Messina insisted, continues to have a "strategic advantage" because of more field offices and infrastructure.

While the Romney campaign has touted national polls in recent days showing a tie between their candidate and Obama, Messina touted polls in individual battleground states.

"We're either tied or in the lead in every battleground state 45 days out. I think you will see a tightening in the national polls going forward. What I care way more about is Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin, etc," Messina said. "In those states, I feel our pathways to victory are there. There are two different campaigns, one in the battlegrounds and one everywhere else. That's why the national polls aren't relevant to this campaign."

Several thousand people lined up for hours to see Obama at an outdoor pavilion located along Lake Michigan on what was an unusually chilly fall day. "I can't feel my feet," a local pastor confessed as he took the stage before Obama to deliver the opening invocation.

As Obama spoke, the wind picked up and it began to rain?heavily at times?prompting some to head for the exists. But the president, who took the stage sans jacket, urged supporters to stick it out.

"I know we're getting a little wet," Obama said. "But that's okay. A little rain never hurt anybody."

Amid claims from Romney that Obama has failed to turn the economy around, Obama acknowledged he hadn't yet accomplished all he had set out to do as president and urged supporters to help him win another term to finish the job.

"It's going to take a few years to solve challenges," Obama said.

And for the third day in a row, he took a shot at Romney's suggestion in a secret video leaked this week that Obama supporters?which the GOP candidate estimated to be about 47 percent of the country?had a "victim" mentality and are dependent on government handouts.

"I don't see a lot of victims here today," Obama said. "I see a lot of hardworking Wisconsinites."
